Sunday Morning - Proverbs 31:30

Sautéed Apples

Crunch Time Meal

My brother  once said I would be a great short-order cook
because I'm pretty speedy when it comes to putting a meal on the table.

For instance, this meal took 15 minutes tops, and it was on the table ready to enjoy.

Sautéed Apples

 Two Small Gala Apples
(that's what I had, but any kind will work)
2 Tablespoons - Dried Cranberries
2 Tablespoons - Chopped Walnuts
1 Teaspoon - Olive Oil
(serves two)

Heat the olive oil then add diced apples.
(I used my mother's little iron skillet ... It's perfect for making meals for two. )

Sauté the apples for a minute or two
add in the dried cranberries and walnuts.
Continue to sauté until the apples are tender.

This like most of my recipes isn't set in stone.
(I tend to use whatever is on hand so things do get switched up from time to time.)

SMELLED YUMMY!

I paired the apples with some lettuce, making a simple Harvest Salad
Seeds of Change Quonia & Brown Rice (took 90 seconds to prepare)
and a small grilled pork chop. (done in minutes)

Nothing fancy but it was delicious!

Seriously, we are trying our best to eat healthily but
it definitely takes a commitment to prepare home-cooked meals.
All I can say is, we're trying.

Not even sure how long we'd had that quinoa before actually using it.
LOL

Do you have any amazing tips for us?

Blessings,

We Just Added The Turkey

We've been enjoying this autumn display since early September,
so for Thanksgiving, we just added a turkey.

The Turkey

I have been holding on to that turkey print
since my college days, and this is the
very first time I've used it.

Now, it's an antique! But, more importantly, it's a memory.

This Thanksgiving display holds so many memories of
Thrifting ... Gifting ... Gathering

My last find was the framed print of "The Gleaners".
I picked it up when I was spending an afternoon with my daughter.

Oh, how I LOVED that day!

See what I mean about memories.

I have a feeling it's that way for you too.

Blessings!

Sunday Morning - Deuteronomy 3:24

'O Lord God, you have only begun
to show your servant your greatness
and your mighty hand. For what god
is there in heaven or on earth
who can do such works and
mighty acts as yours?
- Deuteronomy 3:24

 - What I learned this week -

Prayer is the bridge
between your panic attack and peace

There is NO peace like the peace He gives. NONE

Old-Fashioned Beef Stew

It's been cold and rainy here and the last thing
Buzz said before we went to bed last night was -
"Let's make stew tomorrow."

This is the basic recipe we've modified from both of our moms.

- something you need to know -
it changes a little bit each time we make it.
😉
It all depends on what we have on hand.

The flavor punch from this stew comes from that little bay leaf ... it's always a must!

Sometimes we use BIG CHUNKY pieces,
but today's version - small bite-size pieces.

Plenty for us and Plenty to share.

Welcome November/Copycat

The transition from October to November
is pretty simple at our house.

Autumn is our theme all the way up to Thanksgiving.
Our neighborhood  👻  no trick or treating here
s0
we skip Halloween.

For November though, Buzz spotted something on
 Pinterest that inspired him.

Soooo - he promptly did a copycat version.
Do you ever do that?

I really like his version ... do you?

November, we're going to enjoy you to the fullest
Deo volente.

Sunday Morning - Faithful Love

Mixed Media by Geneva Henexson@myheartssong - photo@thegraphicsfairy

- Putting Your Trust In God -
 begins the journey of being
molded, reshaped, developed, transformed
into an entirely new person.

For me, it's been decades.

I've grown weary ... it's not always easy,
but then, He tweaks my heart.
~
Let's me know that I'm loved.
Let's me know how to keep going.

Looking back, I've seen the
Faithful Love
of God.

HIS LOVE
That's what keeps me going!

Sunday Morning - Be Still

Image by Geneva Henexson @digital praise

Sometimes in eagerness to help others
we simply get in God's way.

That's been my experience anyway.

S l o w l y  ..  S l o w l y  ...  S l o w l y
I'm learning to stop and listen
before opening my mouth.

Is it easy?
No, not always, but
I'm learning that by trusting God to do what He wants
perhaps He's teaching
them to hear His voice too.
 ....
Be Still and Know
Psalm 46:10

He'll let you know when and if
it's time to jump in.

Happy Sunday!

Still - Life - Still - Learning

I'm continually inspired by the photographers I follow on Instagram.
Now, I'm a wanna-be.

I've been spoiled by taking pictures with my iPhone
I'd really gotten lazy about learning to use my
Canon SX530HS that Buzz gave me a few years ago.

How about you? Has your phone been your go-to camera?

I played around with my manual settings this morning
and came up with this moody pumpkin still-life.

While it was fun playing around with
iso & aperture settings, it made me realize
I have a lot to learn.

We'll see what tomorrow holds.
~
Found this leaf on our front step -
used my iPhone this time, then tinkered around
with my photo editor.

That was fun too!

Enjoying New Hobbies!

How about you?

Sunday Morning

Happy Sunday!

The  happenings in the world today
sometimes make my heart tremble.

Unsettling | Unsure

Image by Geneva Henexson @ Digital Praise

It's so easy to get distracted
and lose HIS perspective.

That's why this seems
to be my prayer every day.

"Open the eyes of my heart Lord,
I want to see like You!"

Ephesians 1:18 (ESV)
.. having the eyes of your hearts enlightened,
that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you,
what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, ..

Worth Holding On To

Have you ever had a piece of art that you'd stored away for years?

I have  - it was this sweet picture.

In fact, she's been in storage since the early 80s.
I kept hanging on to her though ... really, almost forgot about her.

Finally! She's proudly on display.

- I've learned -

It's worth hanging on to something you love.

Every time I look at her ... she makes me smile.

I love her Old World charm.

Do you?

My Mom

Do I remember how to do this?  It's been SO long!
I'm hoping to begin blogging again, but first of all, I want to take
some time to share and honor my mother with you.

For the past five years, a good bit of my time and energy has gone into caring for my mother.
And, that's a good thing!  What a privilege to care for someone who was so precious to me.
