Washer Necklaces - A Kid Friendly Craft

My Granddaughter just spent 12 days with me!

Glorious!!!

 We spent one afternoon

making

Washer Necklaces.

I'll admit that the
nail polish was a little risky

but she did a Great job!

Once everything was dry, she strung them together with colorful beads

and Voilà

For our Washer Necklaces, we used:
(Made Twelve)

Two Packages of Washers (two different sizes)
A Bag of Colorful Beads
Elastic "Gold" Thread
Various colors of Nail Polish

  1. We laid out newspaper, but also put a sheet of wax paper on top to keep the nail polish from sticking to the paper.
  2. She painted both sides of the washers with various colors of nail polish (allowing each side to dry completely).
  3. She assembled the necklaces by stringing the washers and beads onto the Gold Thread.

They made great gifts!

By the time she went home,
she had already given half of them away.

Sweet!

Arts and Crafts were FuN
But
Playing was even better!

Seed Packet Banner & Compost Tea

I ran across some

old empty seed packets

that

Buzz had stowed away

and thought they would make a

FuN BaNner

"Rusty"

cheese graters

could be strung up too,

maybe with twinkling lights inside.

What do you think?

 Buzz keeps all kinds of

Goodies

in the

Garden Shed

tempting me to explore.

Still,

as you can see,

it's a working shed

too.

Today,

while I'm taking pictures,

he's making

"Compost Tea"

Buzz's Compost Tea Recipe
(He makes this every two to four weeks)

Great for Organic Gardening

You'll need:

A Clean Five Gallon Bucket
Aquarium Bubbler
Painters Strainer
High-Quality Dark Compost
Sorgum Molasses
Rain Water (or Tap water that has set in the sun for two days)

To Make it:

Fill the bucket with water
Fill the strainer bag/pouch with compost
Tighten pouch & suspend it in Water
Add 3 or 4oz of Sorgum Molasses

Make sure it's in a shady spot
Turn on the Bubbler
Allow to run for 18 to 24 hours
*The white foam on top is a good thing

To Use it:

Dilute with rain water (2/1 or 4/1)

Use a Watering Can to water individual plants
or use as a foliar spray directly on the leaves.

Best Wishes

from our

Garden

to Yours!

Memorial Day - May we never forget

(photograph taken by our son  - edited with picMonkey)

With
Honor
and
Gratitude

WE REMEMBER

Thank You!

"The Star Spangled Banner"

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!

Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
(Francis Scott Key, 1814)
