A Valentines Luncheon for Senior Adults

Being Senior Adults, we've seen plenty of hearts and flower Valentine celebrations so we decided to go in a different direction for our luncheon. Our inspiration - the spaghetti scene from "Lady & the Tramp" 💖

The 55+ ministry at our church is always looking for ways to connect and have fun. This calendar year, we've scheduled luncheons every other month with day trips, game days and outreach during the alternant months. Engaging and having Fun!

Our Luncheons

In the past we've had guest speakers and special programs but in 2024 we're approaching things a little differently. Our goal this year is to help our senior adults connect and really get to know one another.

We keep it simple

  • Usually on Sunday - immediately following the worship service
  • Lasting One to One & 1/2 hours
  • Themed Potluck Buffet
  • Ministry Teams - Buffet organizers / Greeters
  • We open with prayer and allow at least 30 minutes for everyone to finish eating their meal.
  • Encourage conversation & go over our monthly newsletter & share announcements.
  • Play at least one game & give away a small prize to the winner.
The feedback for our that's Amore luncheon was 100% good! Everyone enjoyed it. 😊

If you're thinking of starting a Senior Adult ministry at your church we'd be more than happy to share what we've learned along the way. While our ministry is fairly new, we're all in!

One More Resource

At the beginning of the year we had everyone fill out a questionnaire. Not only were we able to update our data base, we were also able to get to know each person a little better and also find out what their interests are. We've noticed most people want to be involved in one way or another. We like this simple template.

There's so much more I could share because there's never a dull moment in this ministry.

Blessings!
