Seasons...

September has always been the month I decorate for Autumn...
I know some people wait until October, but I just can't...
Maybe it's that old retail mentality...
Whatever it is...the decorating must be done...
So
Yesterday, I opened my storage trunk...pulled out a few things
and started the Annual Event.
Baked A Spice Cake with Carmel Icing
(a new recipe... we'll see how it tastes today)

Hung this Redware plate that I've had for years...
 Loved seeing it again!

That lovely gourd... I've had it for years too...
it's like an old friend...

My kids used to call this a "Moonshine Jug"
but for now ... it's an Autumn Vase (Repurposed.. :o)

It was a fun day!
And now... with a spicy candle burning,
 and family coming for lunch...
Let the Season Begin!

  1. Fall is my favorite season and I can't wait for October either. Do you think it's the relief we have that the hot season is on it's way out? The air just feels different.

Reminds me of the line in "You've Got Mail": "Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils..."

September makes me feel like wearing plaid dresses and buying school supplies.

Lovely display on your buffet and that cake looks terrific!

  2. oh so beautiful! I just love it and I decorate early too! Why not? I just love all the fall decorations and it seems we can keep them out really until Thanksgiving.

The cake looks delicious! I'm thinking of making something like carrot cake!

Where did you get your sweet Bee in the side column? I just love that!

  3. Very lovely and homey... but I hope I'm leaving my comment in the right place because I came from following your link at our Show Off Your Cottage Monday, but couldn't find our little logo... ;)
    Have a sweet day
