Diamonds Aren't Always A Girls Best Friend...

I've been collecting white restaurant ware to replace my every day dishes for a while now.  I usually find them in thrift stores, and love serving food in them.  Something about white makes everything look so yummy!
My Valentines Gift
Well... instead of diamonds, which are nice, I got these white dishes, which are better...(in my eyes anyway).  Buzz couldn't have given me anything I appreciate more.    Of course, his sweet card with his fun little poem made the gift even more special  ":o)

I'm just not a Diamonds kind of girl!
(Isn't he lucky!)

Blessings!

  1. I agree that the white restaurant dishes are better than diamonds. I'm not a diamond girl either. How sweet of Buzz to get you those and a sweet card.
I have been collecting white ironstone dishes the last couple of years and I'm loving them.

  2. You're lucky to have such precious husband.

I guess, we have things in common. Diamonds? who won't accept but dishes? Old, new, broken, small, medium and large in all kinds of colors, that's are more appreciated.

    Happy mid-week-

    Greetings from freezing Stockholm,

  5. Hi Geneva!

I know that I already commented but maybe I got distracted and didn't sent it. Or, you have to approve it first?

At any rate I will say again that the cream/white dishes are always the best for serving meals on as the food looks great. However,I love to dress my table with all the pretty dishes as well.

Thanks for joining my Bunny Hop Party!

    xoxo Bunny Jean

  8. Now he's a husband that pays attention! What a great gift! I don't have vintage dishes (that we eat off), but both sets that I own are white. Food just looks more appetizing when it doesn't have to compete with patterned dishes.

  10. What a lovely gift! I am doing the same thing...slowly replacing our dinnerware with fabulous restaurant ware! I love it, but haven't been able to find as much of it at discounted prices. I would like to get up to 12 place settings! Right now only 5. Too much fun isn't it? Love the clinky sound it makes, too. And I soooo agree about everything looking so much better on it!!

    Thanks for sharing!!
    Joy to you

  11. I love practical valentines!

I've been replacing my everyday dishes with mis matched Corel. My husband doesn't care for big, heavy /chunky dishes. He likes thin plates. But I like the retro looking patterns I've found.

Enjoy your dishes! They'll make you think of your sweet valentine everyday!

  13. Dishes (or any truly thoughtful gift) trump diamonds in my book, too! You have a lovely collection of these dishes, Geneva. :)

  14. Geneva,

I think the best gift givers are the ones that take the time to know what we like and appreciate. So, kudos to your Valentine!
I too love the simplicity of white dishes. I am kicking myself for not purchasing the 'diner'ware I saw at Goodwill.
