Paperweights

If you love old embroidered pieces as much as I do,
you'll understand how difficult it is to let them go.

With a box full of old
Table Cloths
Aprons
Napkins
And even a Bed Spread
I decided it was time to
RePurpose.
(some of it anyway)

So
I made Paperweights

Yes, I finally broke down and actually cut some of them up!
It was a little bit hard for me at first, but I'm over it now.

They were fun to make, and at least the old embroidery is
Out Of The Box!

":o)

How did I do it?

I purchased some paperweights from my craft store's clearance bin
and
replaced their paper backing with my embroidered pieces
(which had been mounted onto acid free mat board)

Simple as that!

  1. Oh - You are SO brave to cut into the old pieces. I would have a hard time doing that-but I love the way your paperweights turned out. xo Diana

  2. I love this idea. It's such a nice way to show off the embroidered pieces, rather than just have them tucked away.

old vintage embroidery pieces and this may

  7. Oh Genea, what a very, very smart idea. You should sell these! I am always trying to figure out what to do with those pieces that are tattered and torn and you can't use as dish towels. This was just a fabulous idea!
I always enjoy visiting you. You have the greatests posts.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Have a great weekend!

  19. I think that's a perfect way to retain their beauty - I have a few pieces of clothing and fabric that I had been wanting to make something of - these would make wonderful heirlooms too! I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
