Paperweights
If you love old embroidered pieces as much as I do,
you'll understand how difficult it is to let them go.
With a box full of old
Table Cloths
Aprons
Napkins
And even a Bed Spread
I decided it was time to
RePurpose.
(some of it anyway)
So
I made Paperweights
Yes, I finally broke down and actually cut some of them up!
It was a little bit hard for me at first, but I'm over it now.
They were fun to make, and at least the old embroidery is
Out Of The Box!
":o)
How did I do it?
I purchased some paperweights from my craft store's clearance bin
and
replaced their paper backing with my embroidered pieces
(which had been mounted onto acid free mat board)
Simple as that!
Oh - You are SO brave to cut into the old pieces. I would have a hard time doing that-but I love the way your paperweights turned out. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteabsolutely dear and darling!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. It's such a nice way to show off the embroidered pieces, rather than just have them tucked away.

ReplyDeleteI love your idea! They will make great gifts, for sure.
Now this really interests me. I have many
ReplyDeleteold vintage embroidery pieces and this may
be the answer. What nice gifts they would
make.
thanks so much for sharing

Oh Genea, what a very, very smart idea. You should sell these! I am always trying to figure out what to do with those pieces that are tattered and torn and you can't use as dish towels. This was just a fabulous idea!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy visiting you. You have the greatests posts.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a great weekend!

What a perfect way to repurpose napkins and embroidered things! And they become even prettier!

Great idea and you carried it out very well. However, I just could not cut mine up. I have soooooooooo much, and do not know why I think I should keep them.

These are really pretty - I love that you repurposed something special to you. I am now following your blog from MHC and look forward to reading more :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable idea! Mimi
ReplyDeleteCute idea Geneva. I know it's hard to cut up old linens but seriously, we can only use so many. You will enjoy the paper weights just as much. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
I think that's a perfect way to retain their beauty - I have a few pieces of clothing and fabric that I had been wanting to make something of - these would make wonderful heirlooms too! I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
