Front Porch Progress ... Slowly but Surely

Finally,
We have a cover over our porch.

It was quite a chore, but together, Buzz and I managed to get it done.

 Mobile Home Communities
generally have restrictions on what you
can and can not do,
so we were thrilled when they approved our plans.

Since we had saved most of the metal and lumber
from our old porch, the expense was minimal.

We may have spent an additional $200.00
which is pretty amazing since it would have been
about $1200.00 to build one from scratch
(according to community regulations).

The boardwalk was Buzz's idea.
It extends from our carport to the shed
and cost us about $80.00

We purchased recycled lumber from
Habitat for Humanity's Restore Shop
2x4s, 2x6s & 2x8s

The lumber isn't pressure treated, so we've stained it
with an oil base stain & will maintain as needed.

Our porch is 8x16
(the largest we can have here)

With the furniture moving in,
it feels like we've just added a room to our house.
YAY!

We've weather proofed the furniture
with exterior paints/stains
and covered the cushions with drop cloth fabric.

How do you like the orange stripes?
(they match our door)

We're trying to get ready for our
Thanksgiving Guests
and
are feeling
very
Thankful
that things are
finally
coming together.

I'll share more about what we've done on the porch as time goes by.

Thank You for Following Along.

Sunday Morning - Psalm 91:4

Our tears are the words our heart can't say.

“There is a sacredness in tears.  They are not the mark of weakness but of power.
They are messengers of overwhelming grief and unspeakable love.”
 - Washington Irving

Hope in God
He is Faithful

Psalm 91:4
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your
shield and rampart.

Blessings, Sweet Friends!

Melodie's Little Farmhouse - Mudroom and Banquette

I hope you've enjoyed all the features on "Melodie's Little Farmhouse" as much as I've enjoyed sharing them with you.  Having a sneak peek into this very special world has been so inspiring.  This couple's "Go For It" attitude proves that great style can be achieved on a budget in any home.

Don't you think they make a wonderful team?

Now, get ready for the final feature...
they haven't disappointed.

Melodie's Mudroom

I know this doesn't look much like a mudroom,
but let me explain.

When I started sharing Melodie's farmhouse
with you, the corner of her mudroom looked like
THIS

It was gorgeous

but Melodie said they wanted a place
to have their meals besides the dining room.

She said she'd been mulling over the idea of
building a banquette and asked me what I thought.
"Great Idea" is what I thought!

She said I encouraged her to go for it,
but I don't think it took much encouraging.

Look what they did in a few short days!

New to the Farmhouse

If you look at some previous features,
you'll notice they've rehung these doors
Barn Door Style;
Perfect For Their Farmhouse.

They have a nice view into the
Kitchen & Living Room
from their new banquette.

How They Did It

You'll see this plywood planking on several walls in their home.
It's great to see exactly how they did it.

They used a similar technique
on their plywood floors.

Budget Friendly Furniture

Mudroom
Nothing has been lost ...
They still have a space by the back door
for boots and coats.

Every inch of their World
Inside & Out

Melodie's Little Farmhouse - Kitchen

Melodie's Kitchen

Everything about this kitchen says
Farmhouse

I haven't been showing you Melodie's BEFORE pictures,
but I'm making an exception with her kitchen.

Seeing these pictures will help you grasp
the transformation that's taken place in this space.

Removing the upper cabinets made it
feel more spacious ... and the open shelving
screams
Farmhouse

I LOVE this prep area!

Melodie uses the chalkboard for
her ongoing shopping list.

Brilliant!

Everything has been painted
with their
Farmhouse White
making all of the accessories POP

I asked Melodie if they're ever embarrassed
that they live in a Mobile Home ...
her answer was, NEVER.

They Feel Blessed!

If you'd like to see
what inspires Melodie,
you can follow her
on Pinterest.

Next Time I'll show you the
Mud Room Transformation.

Get ready to be Wowed!

Don't Miss A Thing!
