Mirror Mirror on the Wall

This is all about the mirror ... but even more, it's about the continuing change in our home.

This mirror hung above the mantel in our previous home and looked very nice. Still,  I had always wanted to paint it or do something to the frame to give it more character ... I hesitated only because it was New, and I was afraid I would ruin it.

It's in our dining room now and I like the way it expands the space, but the frame still bothered me ...
... So, I pulled it down, took a deep breath, and started distressing it using a fine grit sanding sponge.  I'll admit it was a little scary at first, because there was no going back, but the more I sanded, the more I liked it.

This Distressed look isn't for everyone, but I love it!
Lesson learned.... This isn't just about changing the mirror, or our home...it's about change in me.

Who do I have to thank?  All of You, who continually inspire me with your wonderful projects!

THANK YOU!

Have a Blessed Day!

  1. I love it distressed and turned into portrait mode instead of landscaped on your mantel. It now looks like something really pricey from Restoration Hardware.

  2. I love the look of the mirror now and the way you have it styled with the lamps on each side.
Change is good, whether it's in our homes or in ourselves.
    Have a great day!

  7. The mirror looks wonderful; great idea!! Beautiful things you've done with your new "home." I just found your blog through Mobile Home Living blog. We did the same thing you did. We also sold our lovely, completely remodeled home in Grapevine in June, 2011, and bought a mobile home in the Texas Hill Country, just south of Fredericksburg. Lots of updates and remodeling going on at our place too, but we love it.Looking forward to following your blog.

  9. Sometimes it's a bit hard to jump right in and change something for fear it won't work. Good for you for still following your inner voice and doing it!

  10. Great job on the mirror, I like it better distressed. Menard's has big mirrors on sale for just $15 but I don't like the finish on any of them. I was thinking of getting a couple, painting and distressing them. After seeing your mirror, I think I'll be shopping at Menard's this weekend. Thanks for your inspiration!
