I still enjoy sending and receiving Christmas cards...
they're like little gifts that make the season so much brighter.

I especially love the ones with family pictures and letters.
Oh the Joy!
I tend to hold on to the ones I've received from year to year...
Some have greetings from family and friends
who are in heaven now, and it's wonderful seeing their
handwritten messages from Christmastimes past.

Sometimes I think about cutting them up
and using them for a craft project,
but that hasn't happened so far.

My Mother and Grandmother would
string their cards across the living room wall
making a wonderful holiday display.

After we read our cards, we usually place them in a basket
with little snippets of each card showing off it's color.

I'm sure one of my Aunts used to make
something similar to this with her old cards.
It's actually very whimsical isn't it!

I'm hoping to get my cards in the mail soon, along with a short newsletter sharing some of our favorite pictures and happenings during this past year.

ReplyDeleteI still enjoy sending and receiving Christmas cards (or any card, birthday, etc.) I know it is not very 'green' but at least once a year, it is nice. xo
ReplyDeleteI just finished writing and addressing my cards last night to get them in the mail. I LOVE receiving cards and Christmas letters in the mail...it's the perfect time to catch up with friends and family.
ReplyDeleteWe have always hang them around doorways and it looks quite festive. I love the picture of the banner!
Hope you are having a lovely weekend, Geneva!
XO,
Jane
i agree, I love getting christmas cards...have not gotten one yet this year? My grandmother always had hers in a basket and I use to love to grab it and read them, even if I did not know the person.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards and I love the new banner!
ReplyDeleteChecking the mailbox each day for Christmas cards is one of the joys of the season!
ReplyDeleteWe always love the daily trip to the mail for our cards and then stringing them above the mantle, so sad that this tradition is fading, great to see you keeping it alive!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo few send cards anymore. That seems a shame. I always love the ones that I receive. God Bless you and all your family this Christmas season. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI still send traditional post cards to family and close friends.. much nicer than the quick e-greeting or text..actually today I am posting a few already.. is it Christmas yet?! :)
ReplyDeleteI love getting Christmas cards, it seems to be the only time we ever get cards in the mail anymore. I also save my cards, love revisiting them. Like your new holiday banner, so wish I could change out, but Wordpress works differently. I'd have to go thru my designer to change. When we were younger my Aunt Anna made the crochet card holder. Thank for sharing Number 6-24-26, I hadn't seen before and very much like. PS, if you send me you address I'd love to send you a Christmas card, found some old ones at thrift store. Thanks for sharing over at Sunday's Best.
